Order of the Phoenix, Chapter Fifteen

Dolores Umbridge may be a terrible person (and at times painful to read about), but one thing I have to give her is that she’s preparing Harry to deal with adversity in a way that she clearly doesn’t intend. I’ve run into a few Umbridges in my time (well, maybe they weren’t THIS bad) (okay, well maybe ONE was), and while they’re awfully hard to tolerate, at least they do, one day, go away – and leave you a better person for it. And in Harry’s case, I do enjoy watching him closely as this book unfolds, reading between the lines to see how he’s growing and changing as he deals with this, and so many other, menaces. Rowling has written it quite realistically and beautifully, and Harry’s growing up before our eyes. And even though he hasn’t realized it yet, we reach the point here where Hermione does – and starts a revolution of sorts. Hooray!
