LMRourke

Of the art that I have in my Harry Potter collection that isn’t scenes from canon, the overwhelming majority is character portraits. I love art that really captures the essence of a character, and LMRourke absolutely nails it, just about every time. In fact, I’d say her drawings have had more of an influence on how I picture the characters when reading than the movies have – high praise, considering how many times I’ve seen the movies! ;) Unfortunately, because portraits don’t always fit into the books’ descriptions particularly well, I will almost certainly be including less of her artwork than I’d like to, but I’m so pleased to be using all the pieces I can, and I highly recommend a visit to her website for more.

  1. Wowee! These portraits are astonishing. It’s clear that this artist has great talent for drawing her image of the characters! I can picture all of these snapshots hanging in a cluster on a wall in the Burrow, moving and mingling with each other.

  2. These are beautiful!! I totally agree about her capturing the essence of the characters…

  3. Wow. These are amazing.

  4. Clearly had Hugh Jackman in mind when drawing Sirius!!!

Well done, particularly with the Snapes. However I disagree with John on seeing the actual characters differently. What the movies have done well, if anything, is casting perfect characters for the roles.

  5. I think these are fabulous! Especially thinking Harry! I pictured Hermione slightly differently though :)

  6. Absolutely stunning. I went through all the categories choosing my favorites and then I realized they were all from the same account. Just absolutely stunning…
