The Harry Potter Companion

I’ve only been to one Harry Potter fan convention in my life, which was in Las Vegas back in 2006. I had been writing about Harry Potter for some time, but had never really given much of a thought to fan art. But out of curiosity, while we were there, my wife and I walked into the fanart display room – and just inside the door, staring us in the face, was Mudblood428′s drawing of Harry and Ginny’s first kiss. We stood there for a couple of minutes, inspecting the faces of each of the characters, and as we did that moment in the story came alive for me in a way that it never had before. After I got home I was inspired to start my collection of fan art that eventually turned into this website, so in many ways I have Mudblood428 to thank for inspiration. And her other drawings certainly don’t disappoint.

There are many things I love about Mudblood428′s art, but I think my favorite thing about it is her ability to breathe life into these scenes and make them real in a way that I think is unparalleled in the fan art community. It’s an honor to include her work on the Companion.
